This rule also applied to the people that sold things on the side of the road. At certain times of the year, there were vegetable salesman with tables piled high of fennel, melon, zucchini, etc., that they sold...on the side of the road. Motorists would pull off onto the shoulder, buy their veggies, and get back on the road.
And as ruthless as shopkeepers are, vegetable salesman are equally as innovative with their sales techniques. I knew a family that went home with three crates of oranges that a salesman said they absolutely had to have.
And then there was the Teletubby.
Yes, on our way into the countryside one fair spring day, we saw this guy:
Selling squash.
And I think he was actually pretty successful!
So, if you ever see a Teletubby on the side of the road, stop and buy what he's selling. You might end up with three crates of oranges and some really yummy squash!

Too funny about the teletubby. I hate pushy sales people though.
So glad I re-found you. And thanks for the warning about pushy salespeople. I'll be ready... I hope.
That is toooo funny! I would totally stop for a teletubby!
